The purpose of IQ Rugby is to broaden the player talent pool available to Irish provinces and representative sides and to complement the player development pathway that has been established within Ireland over the past few years.
Irish qualified players have represented Ireland at every level over the years. Here are some recent IQ players who are currently involved in the game in Ireland.
With an extensive track record in international Rugby in both Union and League, Sevens and XV’s, as a player, coach and high-performance manager. Joe’s experienced in player identification and development programmes with both the English and Welsh Rugby Unions provides a unique foundation to help support, grow and manage the IRFU’s, IQ Rugby programme.
Brian graduated with a BSc in Sports Science from University of Limerick in 2014 and began working with Munster Rugby as Academy performance analyst. He continues to combine his Performance analysis roles in support of the Munster Academy, IQ Rugby and the various IRFU Age Grade national squads.
Kevin was a full time professional player from 1996 until 2010 and played for sides including Bristol, Bath and Ulster. He amassed 70 caps for the Ireland Senior National side and played in two World Cups in 1999 and 2003. Kevin has also represented the world famous invitational side the Barbarians.
He was Director of Rugby at Moseley RFC from 2011 to 2017 having coached at Rotherham previously.
Phil has previously worked in player development roles for England Rugby, Gloucestershire University, Bristol University and a number of Further Education Colleges. He is a graduate of the University of Gloucestershire where he attained a BSc in Sports Coaching as a mature student in 2015.
He has coaching and management experience with England Students (15s and 7s), England Colleges, Hinckley RFC and Great Britain Student 7s.
